Dictamus

Dictamus is an endemic plant of Crete and is well known for its healing and therapeutic properties. It is an aromatic plant that grows on the mountain slopes and in the gorges of Crete.

Dictam has antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal properties. It is used to treat cough, sore throat, stomachache, menstrual pain, has a diuretic effect and helps with hypertension. It helps in the healing of injuries and in childbirth. Its roots are used to treat sciatica and its juice is added to wine and consumed to treat snakebite. It is used as a treatment for stomach problems, rheumatism. The warm drink of dictum has an antispasmodic effect, strengthens the heart and arteries.
